Originally built in 1965 for Capitol International, this DC-8-55F was sold in 1975 to Air Gabon Cargo, and leased to Zimbabwean carrier Affretair in February 1976.
It was operated titleless on flights throughout Africa and Europe, and was seen leaving its parking position for an early morning flight to Amsterdam in November 1981.
In March 1989 the aircraft became Z-WSB with Affretair, and was sadly damaged beyond repair during a hard landing at Harare, Zimbabwe, on 28 January 1996.

EC-CCG was one of three Super DC-8s operated by Spantax for many years, next to its fleet of 12 Convair CV.990s. EC-CCG came off the fleet of American Airlines in February 1973, after it was inherited by the merger with Trans Caribbean Airways. It was seen on finals to runway 14 on a charter flight to Zurich, where it was a regular weekend visitor. After Spantax's collapse, the DC-8 was sold to the USA, re-engined with CFMs and acquired by UPS, who still use it today as -71CF N798UP.
